Corfu, Greece

The last of our stops on the cruise took us to Corfu, Greece. We were really in the holiday mode by then and weren't too interested in doing a tour, so off to the beach we went. We needed a Mediterranean beach day.

This is the name of our beach. No idea how to pronounce the name, but at least they wrote it in English too to help us out! ha.

We actually rented a car at the port and drove ourselves to a beach on the other side of the island. We made it just fine - helps that it was pretty much a straight shot across the island, but I got a little nervous after we left that I didnt know which port we took off from. There was more than one port on the map. Fortunately we made it back just fine.

B liked our banana yellow rental car.

The car rental made us laugh. Just sign your name, "tell" them you have a valid drivers license (no need to show it), pay and they give you the keys. Seems like all kinds of things could go wrong with that system, but I guess they know that people will come back to get back on their cruise boat, so they are pretty secure they will get the cars back. A car was cheaper than a taxi ride, 50Euro vs. 200 Euro, so we were going to drive regardless.

The water at the beach was so pretty. Crystal clear and turquoise green. The sand/rocks were sharp, just like in Santorini, but we knew to drop our stuff closer to the water this time. We soaked up the sun and floated in the water ALL day. No cultural stuff for us. There were boats you could rent and drive into the caves yourselves, but the kids were enjoying the water so much that we decided to forgo the cave tour.

I cant really say we saw Corfu since we didnt even enter Corfu Town, but we certainly enjoyed the beach.
